ITANAGAR, May 16: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) in its central executive committee meeting held here today resolved to urge the Govt to consider its genuine demands including demand for enhancement of retirement age from 58 years to 60 years.
In continuation of resolutions adopted in its 2nd general conference on April 25 last, the CoSAAP resolved that Govt should withdraw its order requiring producing of NOC for promotion and retirements matters. Opposing constitution of State Pay Commission, the CoSAAP in its meeting decided to urge the Govt to review its order which stipulates compulsory minimum Graduates to qualify for promotions to group ‘B’ & ‘A’ posts. Other demands include restoration of Lateral Entry system in APCS entry grade as per original system, grant of transport and children education allowances and release of 6% DA & DR due from 1st January 2015.

Raghuveer Singh, Scientist (Plant Pathology) and programme leader, trained the farmers on oyster mushroom cultivation. The farmers were also acquainted with the different machineries and equipments available in the mushroom spawn production laboratory.
Mushroom literatures, spawns and poly bags were provided to the trainees. The programme was technically assisted by Sikimoni Baruah, B. Pait and Rabindra Singh.

Trainers from Police Department and Physical Education experts were invited to give tips on PET running techniques and practices.

Nagaland Civil Service Officers visit Ziro
ZIRO, May 16: A team of Nagaland Civil Service officers of 2013 batch were on a two days visit to Ziro as part of their training from May 15.
The team met the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, civil service and other administrative officers of the district and held discussion on various sections of CrPC.
During the interaction, the administrative officers explained their charter of work in district administration, challenges and changing role of administrators. The civil service officers from Nagaland also shared their experiences and views.
They were also taken to a career counseling programme in Abotani hall to meet aspirants.
The team visited Bamin village in the evening where they interacted with panchayat leaders and Gaon Burahs (GB). They also visited the district museum and kiwi gardens around the plateau.

SRFTI Director visits Apatani villages
ITANAGAR, May 16: On invitation of the Taro Opey Foundation (TOF), Ziro, Sanjaya Pattanayak, Director Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata and his family have visited Taro Taku village, Hija yesterday.
Pattanayak was on an official inspection of the Film and Television Institute site at Jote area on May 13. Along with his family, the director reached Ziro on May 14. Before visiting the Taro Taku village, they had visited Shiva Linga at Kardo yesterday, informed chairman of the TOF, Taro Chatung in a press statement.
While according a traditional welcome to the visiting dignitary and his family at Taro Taku Lapang (traditional community platform), Chatung explained the role and motto of the TOF and importance of the Hija village. This was followed by demonstration and display on life and culture of the Apatani community from primitive age to modern life by resource persons of the community.

He was speaking at the Legal Aid Clinic here today in Arunachal Law Academy (ALA) Lekhi.
Roy further added that the people are still unaware of various legal rights in Arunachal and urged the law students to work as Para Legal Volunteers(PLV) for legal awareness in every corner of the state.
He advised the law students to maintain reading habits to gain legal knowledge and to keep themselves updated.

ITANAGAR, May 16: Gauhati High Court Judge, Justice Hrishikesh Roy called on Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at the latter’s offices here this afternoon. In presence of state Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi and Law Secretary Onit Panyang as well as Joint Registrars from Gauhati and Itanagar Permanent Bench High Courts, they discussed various issues related to justice delivery in Arunachal Pradesh.
The issues discussed in the meeting revolved around easy and smooth delivery of justice to the common people, separation of judiciary from the executive, recruitment of ministerial staff, establishment of jails, sensitization on justice delivery system, construction of permanent High Court in the state capital etc. The Chief Minister assured Justice Roy that land will be allotted within a month’s time for establishment of a High Court at Naharlagun. He requested the Chief Secretary to call a meeting with the Land Management department and PWD by Monday and expedite the process for land allotment.

Newly birth defect surveillance system launched
ITANAGAR, May 16: Newly Birth Defect surveillance (BDSS) system under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK), National Health Mission has been launched today.
Special Secretary (Health & FW), Dr. Tariq Thomas while launching the system said that the doctors and nurses can play a crucial role in preventing birth defects and improve the survival outcome with timely detection and timely intervention.
He added that training pertaining to BDSS need to be extended to other center of delivery point to assess the exact magnitude of birth defect.
Dr. K. Nishing, Director Health Service emphasizing importance of early diagnosis said timely detection and timely intervention can save long term impact of birth defect.
Dr. Moji Jini, Director of Medical Education and research while informing about doctors and nurses being trained on Navjaat Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK) to reduce the mortality said other than the visible birth defect hidden defect also need to be identified early and treated timely further, he advice all the doctors and nurses to make it mandatory to fill the form pertaining to child health and mother.

10 Kw Paidhar Micro Power Project inaugurated
TAWANG, May 16: Tawang Deputy Commissioner Abishek Dev on Thursday inaugurated the 10 Kilowatt Paidhar Micro Hydel Project at the interior Paidhar village.
The project developed under the Prime Minister package was put on trial run from April 21.
The hydel project will provide free electricity to Paidhar village and the 7th century Dharbumgey monastery.
Earlier, the DC provided Rs.50,000 each for the conversion of single phase low tension (LT) line into 3 phase LT line at Paidhar 10 Kilowatt MHP and Kyaleng 15 Kilowatt micro hydel projects under untied fund.

Capacity training prog on cloth weaving conducted
KHARSANG, May 16: The Capacity Building Training Programme under Border Area Development Programme on Cloth Weaving was organized by Amik Matai Society with the support of the Directorate of Skill Development & Employment Generation, GoAP here at New Yanman village under Khagam CD block yesterday. Four master trainers imparted training to 35 village women beneficiaries present on the occasion.
Addressing the programme, former minister and public leader Samchom Ngemu spoke at length on the importance of women empowerment and the various economic activities that can be achieved in the local area. He also encouraged active participation of village women in such training camps to develop skill which will help them to enhance their household incomes.
In his address, General Secretary of Amik Matai Society, Roshan Ngemu said that the aim of the training programme is to impart skill to the local beneficiaries and promote cloth weaving keeping in mind the rising demand for indigenous designs in cloth weaving. Ngemu also exhorted one and all to avail the opportunity to develop skill from these training camps being provided free of cost to the local beneficiaries. He also lauded Subu Tabin, Director of Skill Development & Employment Generation and Pura Nyime, Group Inspector for extending guidance and support to the organization for conducting the skill development training programs in Tirap, Changlang, Longding and Anjaw districts.

He emphasized on the marketing facilities of the products as the villagers have to face hard time in finding customers with right price to sell their products. Overwhelming public response to vaccination prog in East Kameng
SEPPA, May 16: The first phase of immunization programme under Mission Indradhanush (MI) in East Kameng district witnessed overwhelming response. As per health Department’s report, the first of the programme achieved 96 per cent vaccination coverage.
While taking stock of the performance, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Singh appreciated all the immunizing teams for accomplishing the task entrusted on them successfully. He exhorted them to maintain the same spirit to ensure that no children in the district are left unvaccinated. He also praised the role of Women Welfare Organisation (WWO), Seppa in making the programme a success.
He advised the department concerned to fix a revised target based on the outcome of the preceding phase and submit a fresh list of target to ASHAs and ANMs in advance for wide coverage during the next immunization programme.
